2019 Archival Scholars in Action Event

How to Apply

The call for applications is promoted to students during the fall semester with applications due in November before Thanksgiving.

For Spring 2025: Applications are due by 11:59 p.m., November 13, 2024.

Applicants must be Dietrich School undergraduate students with a research interest that can be supported by collections held by any of the distinctive collections in the ULS.

First time researchers are especially encouraged to apply! While awardees will be conducting self-directed research, the guidance offered by the faculty and ULS mentors creates a very supportive atmosphere in which awardees can build their research skills.

There are four main parts to the ASRA application:

  • A research proposal: In no more than 4 pages, describe your project
  • A community statement: In 1-2 pages reply to a prompt about joining a community of scholars.
  • A letter of support: supplied by a faculty sponsor who accepts the responsibility to serve as a mentor throughout the award.
  • A proof of concept: supplied by an archivist or librarian from the ULS who can confirm that there is material in the ULS collections to support your research. Reach out to A&SC here!
