Library Space Use Policy

The Library (which refers to all physical locations in the University Library System) is a space for academic pursuits for the Pitt community and members of the local community, if applicable. The spaces are reserved for academic-related purposes only. Activities not directly related to academics and library services, programs, and expertise are not allowed. These include, but are not limited to various tabling, signage, or posters requests that do not meet the above criteria. In addition, there is absolutely no solicitation of any kind permitted. There are food restrictions clearly posted throughout the Library. Covered beverages and snacks are the only items permitted in the library. No loud noises are allowed. Patrons exhibiting inappropriate behavior will be asked to leave and students will be referred to Student Conduct.

All space use requests that are beyond the normal academic use (study space or the specific functional use of library spaces) must be approved by Library Administration prior to use. The Library reserves the right to deny any request if the reserving parties do not adhere to the policies and procedures of the library.

The library has publicly bookable spaces available (e.g. Group Study Rooms, the Open Lab, the Text & conText Lab, or the Inclusion & Belonging Place.) If you are interested in reserving those spaces, visit:
