Digital Scholarship Services

Digital Scholarship Services is a front-end to the library's resources, expertise, and services in support of a broad range of digital and data-intensive scholarly activities. From designing a digital humanities project to making a data management plan for a grant application, we’re here to help. Some of our main areas of support include:

Working with DSS

We work with students, faculty, staff, and researchers from all disciplines, and we strive to facilitate and raise the visibility of collaborative and interdisciplinary work.

Consultation

We're available to help you get started with a new project, integrate a digital assignment into your course, or learn more about a particular tool or method. Contact us to make an appointment!

Training and instruction

We offer a wide variety of workshops that are open to anyone interested in digital methods and tools. We also provide instruction by request for classes, research teams, and other groups; please see our instruction page to learn more!

Digital Scholarship Computers

Digital scholarship computers are available on the first and second floors. These computers have over thirty software titles meant for digital projects such as creating 3d modeling projects to coding, video editing and more. You can find four of these computers along the back wall of the Saxby’s Cup and Chaucer café and five on the west side (facing Posvar Hall) of the second floor. View the list of available software titles.

Specialized hardware and software

The Open Lab @ Hillman offers access to a 12-workstation computer lab with specialized software, a variety of public scanners, and a station for Optical Character Recognition (OCR). The Commons also houses the Open Lab @ Hillman, a hands-on space for digital content creation.

Making connections

Digital Scholarship Services connects researchers with other sources of methodological and technological expertise at the University.

Student opportunities

We run a Summer Graduate Student Internship program and maintain an academic year Graduate Student Assistant position. These paid positions offer opportunities to acquire foundational digital scholarship knowledge and participate in project work. We also hire undergraduate student workers. Please see descriptions and any open calls for applications on our Student Opportunities page.
