Located on the second floor of Owen Library (near the top of the stairs), the Curriculum Room collections provide a variety of teaching materials that support the pre-service teaching and learning of students enrolled in the Pitt-Johnstown Education programs.
Browse our extensive Juvenile collection featuring picture books, children’s literature, young adult fiction, and non-fiction titles! We’ve included Newbery, Caldecott, Coretta Scott King, and other children’s literature awards winners. DVDs, such as Bill Nye the Science Guy series, are also available for you to borrow.
The Curriculum collections include P-12 curriculum textbooks and P-12 supplemental curriculum resources of manipulative kits (realia), games, puppets, and primary source materials that can be used in the classroom for hands-on learning. Looking for books about the philosophy of teaching and education? They’re shelved in our General Collection (L call number range).
Our collections are searchable in PittCat, our online catalog; tips for locating specific collection items can be found in our Education Research subject guide.
The room also holds three Ellison Die Cut Machines and a vast library of dies to create letter or image cut-outs for classroom signage and bulletin boards. Please note that we don’t supply paper, so remember to bring your own!
You may borrow most materials in the Curriculum Room for a 28-day loan period.
