Owen Library allows community patrons to register for borrowing privileges as University Library System Special Borrowers. Special Borrowers can borrow up to 10 books at a time.
To become a Special Borrower, a community patron must purchase a University Library System Special Borrower Card from Owen Library for $30.00. Patrons can purchase Special Borrower Cards at Owen Library's Information Desk Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
A Special Borrower must be 18 years of age and show a picture ID.
Pitt-Johnstown Alumni Association members and LearningPlus Program students receive Special Borrowers cards at no cost. Membership confirmation is required.
The Special Borrowers Card is valid for a period of one year but DOES NOT permit access to library-licensed online resources.
Access to Pitt's licensed electronic resources is available upon request. Visitors from the community and visiting academics may ask for a temporary guest computer account password at the library's Information Desk. A valid photo ID is required. The temporary guest password may be used at any ULS public device.
Please note that there is no printing service associated with access to our electronic resources and the ability to download content may be restricted by certain content providers. Your access will expire at the end of the day (11 p.m.) you received the password.
