Please note that some library services (Ask Us, Get It, ILL, EZBorrow) will not be available during the upcoming winter recess dates of December 18 - January 2

Ways You Can Request Materials

Materials held by the University Library System

  1. Digitization: You may request a digital copy of an article or book chapter from any materials found in the University Library System by using Get It (does not include Health Sciences Library System or Law). We’ll digitize the pages and email them to you (within copyright adherence).
  2. Physical Requests: Use Get It.

Materials held by other libraries

Pitt Libraries partner with multiple institutions locally, nationally, and internationally through Resource Sharing to bring resources to you! A one-time user registration is required before using the form. You will not need to re-enter personal information every time you make a request.

  1. If you find a resource in PittCat that is not available to borrow, you can still place a request for it by following the link to request a scan or the physical item.
  2. If you cannot find your desired resource in PittCat, you can still request it directly through the Resource Sharing Form.

This initiates a request process via the that searches multiple Resource Sharing partners.
These partners include EZBorrow which searches PALCI libraries in Pennsylvania and contiguous states. If not available via EZBorrow the search moves on to Interlibrary Loan (ILL) which searches nationally and internationally.
You will be notified via email when your request is ready!
Details on this service can be found on the ULS Resource Sharing page.
Availability of service may vary during holiday and interim periods.
Patrons not affiliated with the University of Pittsburgh may inquire about accessing ULS materials by contacting Ask Us!
