Chris Brown is Commissioner of Chicago Public Library, one of the world’s largest public library systems, spanning 81 neighborhood libraries and approximately 1.9 million square feet of public space across Chicago. His work focuses on how public institutions expand opportunity and strengthen cultures of reading, learning, creativity, and belonging. Under his leadership, CPL automatically connected approximately 315,000 CPS students to library access through existing student IDs and secured its first integrated citywide capital and programmatic strategy. Brown was elected to the Board of the Public Library Association and holds master’s degrees in Public Administration and Library and Information Science.
