Welcome Back!

Safety first! Please remember to wear your mask at all times during your visit.

Welcome back! We missed seeing you in the Libraries.

If you’ve never visited us before or need a refresher on what we have to offer, this page is for you. Here is some information to get you started using the Pitt Libraries. As always, you can Ask Us any time you have a question.

  • Reserve a Group Study Room in Hillman Library. Group study rooms at our subject libraries and regional campus libraries can be used on a first-come, first-served basis. Most group study rooms are equipped with monitors for screen sharing.
  • Teach and learn with us! We’re here to support students and faculty with teaching, learning, and research. Please reach out to your liaison librarian to schedule one-on-one research support, in-class instruction sessions, timely workshops, and more.
  • Print course reserves will again be available at all library locations. We are now accepting requests for course reserves for Fall 2021 in both electronic and print formats through our Course Reserves Form. Looking for a course reserve for a class? You can search for your course reserve materials in PittCat.
  • Would you like to recommend a book or film for us to purchase? Just fill out this form to request us to a print or digital book or this one for film and media.
  • The University remains open only to Pitt students, faculty, and staff. If you have a Special Borrower card and you would like to arrange pickup of your library materials, please contact us to schedule a date and time. Please visit our website on library access for Special Borrowers for more information about this service.
  • Reciprocal borrowing accounts for local/regional University affiliates, including Carnegie Mellon University and PALCI members, are not being issued at this time. Please contact your local college or university library for assistance locating library materials.
  • The Archives & Special Collections’ Reading Room in Hillman Library or at Thomas Blvd. are open for research use. If you are a Pitt affiliate, no appointment is needed to visit the A&SC Hillman Reading Room, but we do ask that you make an appointment to visit us at Thomas. While all non-Pitt affiliates are welcome to visit us too, you are required to make an appointment at either location. To do so, please contact Archives & Special Collections.

Ways you can access library materials
