We are thrilled to announce we have acquired the archive of the late playwright and Pittsburgh native son August Wilson, best known for his unprecedented American Century Cycle —ten plays that convey the Black experience in each decade of the 20th century. All ten of the plays have had Broadway productions and two earned Wilson the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. For more info visit here.

There’s a significant new addition to the Horror Studies Collection at Pitt. The University of Pittsburgh Library System (ULS) has acquired the papers of Daniel Kraus—a prolific writer in the horror genre who currently lives in Chicago. It represents the first addition to the collection from a literary figure and author, thus expanding the scope of the collection beyond filmmaking as established through the inaugural acquisition of the George A.
The University of Pittsburgh Library System’s University Archives is working to document the impact of COVID-19 on the university community, as well as Pitt’s response to the pandemic. In addition to the websites and emails we are currently collecting, we are asking Pitt students, faculty, and staff to consider collecting records that document their experiences and depositing them in the University Archives. We intend to make the resulting archive of reflections and files available for research.
