The fine print
- Due to the limited equipment resources at the library, please be advised that a one-hour waiting period is required for some items before patrons can check out items again. This policy is implemented to ensure fair access for all library users.
Who can borrow equipment?
- All University of Pittsburgh students, faculty and staff with a valid Pitt ID
- For information about borrowing equipment at Pitt regional campuses, see: Bradford, Greensburg, Johnstown, Titusville
- Faculty and Staff traveling internationally can now borrow Laptops, Tablets, and Phones for this purpose through the University Technology Loaner Program for International Travel
- Pitt IT offers Chromebooks for students. Go to Student Chromebook Loaner Program
Connecting in dorms and off-campus
- Library laptops cannot be connected to MyResNet. Only personal devices registered via Pitt IT can connect to MyResNet.
- Laptop borrowers must log in to Wireless-PittNet and sign into the computer with their Pitt credentials at least once prior to leaving campus.
- If the laptop loan period is less than one day: shutting off the laptop will reset it and you will no longer be able to log in off-campus.
What about my liability?
- You are responsible for the equipment while it is checked out to you
- Do not leave equipment unattended at any time
- If equipment is lost, stolen or damaged while it is checked out to you, you are responsible
- When using equipment, please bring any problems to the attention of library staff immediately
