Borrowing Proxy

Faculty may request to have authorized research/teaching assistants borrow library materials on their behalf. To begin the authorization process, please complete the Borrowing Proxy form. You will receive a reply via email when the proxy borrower account is set up.

To check out materials from any ULS location in-person as a proxy, the approved borrower must present their own Pitt ID and inform the library staff they are borrowing on behalf of a faculty member. Library materials (books, films, interlibrary loan items, etc.) placed on-hold by the faculty member or pulled from the shelf may then be checked out directly to the faculty member’s account.

Please note:

  • Proxy Borrowers do not have the ability to renew items on behalf of faculty member.
  • Proxy Borrowers are not granted borrowing privileges for media equipment and technology, which must be checked out by the account owner.
  • The faculty member is responsible for all materials, fines, and fees incurred on their library account.
