Digitization

Need an article or chapter from a book that’s not available online?

If the materials are in print format in one of our libraries and you need them right away, you can scan the content yourself using one of our self-service scanners. You may also request a digital copy of an article or book chapter from any materials found in the University Library System (does not include Health Sciences Library System or Law). We’ll digitize the pages and email them to you (limit of 5 requests per person/day).

How to request digitized material:

  1. Search for the item in PittCat
  2. Select the full record for the article or book
  3. Follow the Get It prompts to request digitization of the content you need
  4. Enter your University Computing Account (email) username and password and click on the Send Request button

US Copyright law may restrict materials we scan and distribute.

...thank you so much!! I have to write a paper based on this book but with everything going on, I was unable to check it out from the library before having to leave Pittsburgh. I initially tried to find an online version and couldn't get it anywhere. These scanned pages are going to be so helpful. I appreciate you!!!"
