What is Resource Sharing?
It’s a collaboration between libraries to lend materials to each other through Interlibrary Loan (ILL) and EZBorrow thus expanding the range of accessible research materials that are available to you! If materials are not available at Pitt Libraries, they may be supplied by one of Pitt’s many partner institutions worldwide at no charge to you. This service ensures that your academic needs are supported by a wealth of materials from libraries around the world.
How to request materials held at other libraries
If a resource is not owned or available in PittCat follow the link to request a scan or the physical item.
Note: You must be signed into PittCat to initiate the request.
This initiates a request process that searches multiple Resource Sharing partners.
These partners include EZBorrow which searches PALCI libraries in Pennsylvania and contiguous states. If not available via EZBorrow the search automatically on to Interlibrary Loan (ILL) which searches nationally and internationally.
If you cannot find a resource in PittCat you can place a request with the Resource Sharing Form you need:

A one-time user registration is required before using the form. You will not need to re-enter personal information every time you make a request.

Materials will be delivered as quickly as possible depending on distance of supplying partner

You will be notified via email when your material is available.

Books will be visible from the “My Account” feature in PittCat once they arrive.

Resource Sharing materials are supplied by various library consortia, with loan periods and renewal policies determined by each library.

Loans can be picked up and returned at any ULS library.

Do not remove the book bands. Doing so may result in return delays and fines.

Availability of service may vary during holiday and interim periods.
