Hillman Evening Building Supervisor

During the academic year, serve as the primary late night staff member in the Public & Access Services department at Hillman Library; holiday and summer hours may vary. Provide outstanding service at the Donald S. Wood Service Desk, over the phone, on chat, and via email to students, faculty, and visitors. Offer basic reference and directional assistance, facilitate access to and use of ULS collections, resources, and services, and participate in departmental activities such as collection maintenance; technology inventory, troubleshooting, and management; and other duties as assigned. Act as liaison to facilities, University of Pittsburgh Public Safety and other University departments during evening hours, and verify presence of security personnel in the library at appointed times. Provide direction and supervision for Hillman Library Public Service student employees during evening hours. Hours of work are Sunday-Thursday: 6pm-2:30am (academic year); Sunday - Thursday: 1:30pm-10pm (summer term), weekend overnight hours during finals, and overnight (10:30pm-7:00am) back-up on occasion as needed.

Four years of college or four years relevant experience plus high school diploma/GED. Must have a strong academic background or relevant experience in order to answer basic reference questions and to have an understanding of the academic research process. Previous experience using computers is required, as is the ability to use various platforms to maintain communication with supervisor and colleagues across locations. Previous experience providing excellent customer service is essential. Previous library experience, although not required, is desirable.
